About
ExamView
Many of our Teacher Resource Materials include ExamView
software for creating custom printed and online (LAN-based)
tests. ExamView components and their uses are:
- ExamView Pro and question banks, for creating tests.
- ExamView Player, for administering tests over a LAN.
- ExamView Tour, for an overview of the features of ExamView.
- ExamView User's Guide, for detailed instructions.
ExamView Pro
When ExamView Pro is installed, the question banks created
by Lawrenceville Press for a specific textbook are automatically
installed. With ExamView Pro and the question banks, custom
tests and assessment materials such as study guides can be
created. Tests and materials can be printed from ExamView
Pro or administered over a LAN using ExamView Player. ExamView Pro allows the teacher to:
- select questions using several methods: randomly, from
a list, while viewing questions, or by specifying criteria
- edit and add questions to the question banks
- export to WebCT or Blackboard
- export student results to a grade book or spreadsheet
- scramble the choices in multiple choice questions
- create multiple versions of the same test with corresponding
answer keys
The question banks usually include true/false, multiple choice,
matching, completion, and short answer questions. The case
question banks include pairs of questions, each of which tests
the same concepts. The pairs could be used when students sit
side by side and are able to view each other's monitor. Each
case question has a series of steps that need to be completed
using the appropriate software. Viewing the question information
for a case question displays a dialog box with:
- a reference to any required data files and the answer file
- the sections in the text that the question refers to
- a note indicating what question in the question bank it
is similar to (for paired questions)
